Silk Organza
Approximate size before processing is 4″ x 45″. Hand dyed, hand pleated silk organza. The look of feathers but the silk does not shed, smell or disintegrate with time like real feathers. Simply cut snips into the organza parallel to the pleats and watch the fabric “naturally” form wispy feathers. The closer the snips, the finer the feathers. It is also a great fabric for “puffing” a skirt or other costume feature. Densely woven, the fabric retains its stiffness.
Silk Gauze
Approximate size before processing is 4″ x 36″. Hand dyed, hand pleated silk gauze. This is the light as air fabric. It makes awesomely fragile fairy wings when draped over a wire. Add glitter and/or holeless beads for a sparkling wing. This is the fabric to use when layering several costume elements. It will layer without adding any bulk or weight. Ideal for mini costuming.
Silk Satin / Silk Charmeuse
Approximate size before processing is 4″ x 45″. Hand dyed, hand pleated silk charmeuse is the shiny elegant Ripple. Tear this one and you get a mini ruffle at the end of the pleats. It has marvelous substance and brilliance. While most other silks have a matte finish, the silk satin has a high gloss. It is wonderful as an accent in costuming. On a miniature doll, use it as an accent. For a larger doll or area, make it the showcase costume element.
